- Section 5 -

Job 40:2-5
2 Shall he that contendeth with the
Almighty instruct him? he that
reproveth God, let him answer it.
3 #Then Job answered the Lord, and
4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I
answer thee? I will lay mine hand
upon my mouth.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will
not answer: yea, twice; but I will
proceed no further.

Isaiah 40:18
18 #To whom then will ye liken God?
or what likeness will ye compare unto

Hebrews 11:1,3
1 Now faith is the substance of
things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen.
3 Through faith we understand that
the worlds were framed by the word of
God, so that things which are seen
were not made of things which do

191:4 Chapter 7: Physiology

Chapter 7: Physiology
The rights of woman acknowledged
morally, civilly, and socially.

Christmas Morn

Yet wherefore signalize the birth
Of him ne'er born?
What can rehearse the glorious worth
Of his high morn?

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Cardinal point 2 - Column 2 - Extended

(Human frailty)
As mortals give up the delusion that there is more than one
Mind, more than one God, man in God's likeness will appear, and
this eternal man will include in that likeness no material

301:5-29 Chapter 10: Science of Being

Chapter 10: Science of Being
Divine Science understood and acknowledged.

I thank Thee O Father,...

Thus olden faith's pale star now blends
In seven-hued white!
Life, without birth and without end,
Emitting light!

Give us grace for to-day;
feed the famished affections.

Cardinal point 3 - Column 3 - Extended

(The divine reflection)
Few persons comprehend what Christian Science means by the word
reflection. To himself, mortal and material man seems to be
substance, but his sense of substance involves error and therefore
is material, temporal.
On the other hand, the immortal, spiritual man is really
substantial, and reflects the eternal substance, or Spirit, which
mortals hope for. He reflects the divine, which constitutes the
only real and eternal entity. This reflection seems to mortal
sense transcendental, because the spiritual man's substantiality
transcends mortal vision and is revealed only through divine
(Inverted images and ideas)
As God is substance and man is the divine image and likeness,
man should wish for, and in reality has, only the substance of
good, the substance of Spirit, not matter. The belief that man
has any other substance, or mind, is not spiritual and breaks the
First Commandment, Thou shalt have one God, one Mind. Mortal man
seems to himself to be material substance, while man is "image"
(idea). Delusion, sin, disease, and death arise from the false
testimony of material sense, which, from a supposed standpoint
outside the focal distance of infinite Spirit, presents an
inverted image of Mind and substance with everything turned upside

468:22 Chapter 14: Recapitulation

Chapter 14: Recapitulation
Divine Science encompassing the universe and man;...

Truth versus error

To-day, as oft, away from sin
Christ summons thee!
Truth pleads to-night: Just take Me in!
No mass for Me!

God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from sin, disease, and death.

Cardinal point 3 - Column 4 - Extended

Question 7. - What is substance?
ADAM = A belief in intelligent matter, finiteness, and mortality.

(Spiritual synonyms)
The spiritual universe, including individual man, is a compound
idea, reflecting the divine substance of Spirit.
