- Section 2 -
16 But unto the wicked God saith,
What hast thou to do to declare my
statutes, or that thou shouldest take
my covenant in thy mouth?
21 These things hast thou done, and
I kept silence; thou thoughtest that
I was altogether such an one as
thyself: but I will reprove thee, and
set them in order before thine eyes.
3 Put not your trust in princes,
nor in the son of man, in whom there
is no help.
4 His breath goeth forth, he
returneth to his earth; in that very
day his thoughts perish.
I Corinthians 2:14
14 But the natural man receiveth
not the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them, because
they are spiritually discerned.
140:23-3 Chapter 6: Science, Theology, Medicine
Chapter 6: Science, Theology, Medicine
The rights of woman acknowledged
morally, civilly, and socially.
Christmas Eve (2)
For heaven's Christus, earthly Eves,
By Adam bid,
Make merriment on Christmas eves,
O'er babe and crib.
Thy kingdom is come,
Thou art ever-present.
point 3 - Column 2 - Extended
The Jewish tribal Jehovah was a man-projected God, liable to
wrath, repentance, and human changeableness. The Christian Science
God is universal, eternal, divine Love, which changeth not and
causeth no evil, disease, nor death. It is indeed mournfully true
that the older Scripture is reversed. In the beginning God
created man in His, God's, image; but mortals would procreate man,
and make God in their own human image. What is the god of a
mortal, but a mortal magnified?
(More than profession required)
This indicates the distance between the theological and
ritualistic religion of the ages and the truth preached by Jesus.
255:16 Chapter 9: Creation
Chapter 9: Creation
Divine Science understood and acknowledged.
Christian Science Healing (2)
Forever present, bounteous, free,
Christ comes in gloom;
And aye, with grace towards you and me,
For health makes room.
Give us this day our daily bread.
point 4 - Column 3 - Extended
(Finite views of Deity)
The human form, or physical finiteness, cannot be made the basis
of any true idea of the infinite Godhead. Eye hath not seen
Spirit, nor hath ear heard His voice.
256:24 Chapter 9: Creation
(No divine corporeality)
No form nor physical combination is adequate to represent
infinite Love. A finite and material sense of God leads to
formalism and narrowness; it chills the spirit of Christianity.
286:21-26 Chapter 10: Science of Being
Chapter 10: Science of Being
Divine Science understood
I thank Thee O Father,...
Thus olden faith's pale star now blends
In seven-hued white!
Life, without birth and without end,
Give us grace for to-day;
feed the famished affections.
point 3 - Column 3 - Extended
God's thoughts are perfect and eternal, are substance and Life.
Material and temporal thoughts are human, involving error, and
since God, Spirit, is the only cause, they lack a divine cause.
The temporal and material are not then creations of Spirit. They
are but counterfeits of the spiritual and eternal.
