Matthew 13:40-42
40 As therefore the tares are
gathered and burned in the fire; so
shall it be in the end of this world.

41 The Son of man shall send forth
his angels, and they shall gather out
of his kingdom all things that
offend, and them which do iniquity;
42 And shall cast them into a
furnace of fire: there shall be
wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Revelation 21:8
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving,
and the abominable, and murderers,
and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and
idolaters, and all liars, shall have
their part in the lake which burneth
with fire and brimstone: which is the
second death.

Isaiah 4:3,4
3 And it shall come to pass, that
he that is left in Zion, and he that
remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be
called holy, even every one that is
written among the living in
4 When the Lord shall have washed
away the filth of the daughters of
Zion, and shall have purged the blood
of Jerusalem from the midst thereof
by the spirit of judgment, and by the
spirit of burning.

76:32-12 Chapter 4: Christian Science versus Spiritualism

Chapter 4: Christian Science versus Spiritualism
The love of the good and beautiful, and their immortality.

Seeking and Finding.

What the Beloved knew and taught,
Science repeats,
Through understanding, dearly sought,
With fierce heart-beats;

Adorable One.

Cardinal point 1 - Column 1 - Extended

(Immaterial pleasure)
The recognition of Spirit and of infinity comes not suddenly
here or hereafter. The pious Polycarp said: "I cannot turn at
once from good to evil." Neither do other mortals accomplish the
change from error to truth at a single bound.
(Second death)
Existence continues to be a belief of corporeal sense until the
Science of being is reached. Error brings its own
self-destruction both here and hereafter, for mortal mind creates
its own physical conditions. Death will occur on the next plane
of existence as on this, until the spiritual understanding of Life
is reached. Then, and not until then, will it be demonstrated that
"the second death hath no power."

290:16-32 Chapter 10: Science of Being

Chapter 10: Science of Being
Divine Science understood and acknowledged.

I thank Thee O Father,...

Thus olden faith's pale star now blends
In seven-hued white!
Life, without birth and without end,
Emitting light!

Give us grace for to-day;
feed the famished affections.

Cardinal point 3 - Column 3 - Extended

(Future purification)
If the change called death destroyed the belief in sin,
sickness, and death, happiness would be won at the moment of
dissolution, and be forever permanent; but this is not so.
Perfection is gained only by perfection. They who are unrighteous
shall be unrighteous still, until in divine Science Christ, Truth,
removes all ignorance and sin.
(Sin is punished)
The sin and error which possess us at the instant of death do
not cease at that moment, but endure until the death of these
errors. To be wholly spiritual, man must be sinless, and he
becomes thus only when he reaches perfection. The murderer,
though slain in the act, does not thereby forsake sin. He is no
more spiritual for believing that his body died and learning that
his cruel mind died not. His thoughts are no purer until evil is
disarmed by good. His body is as material as his mind, and vice

430:3 Chapter 12: Christian Science Practice

Chapter 12: Christian Science Practice
Divine Science understood and acknowledged.

Christian Unity (1)

For Christian Science brings to view
The great I Am,-
Omniscient power,- gleaming through
Mind, mother, man.

And Love is reflected in love.

Cardinal point 1 - Column 3 - Extended

(Life all-inclusive)
Mortal mind must part with error, must put off itself with its
deeds, and immortal manhood, the Christ ideal, will appear. Faith
should enlarge its borders and strengthen its base by resting upon
Spirit instead of matter. When man gives up his belief in death,
he will advance more rapidly towards God, Life, and Love. Belief
in sickness and death, as certainly as belief in sin, tends to
shut out the true sense of Life and health. When will mankind
wake to this great fact in Science?

476:13-22 Chapter 14: Recapitulation

Chapter 14: Recapitulation
Divine Science encompassing the universe and man;...

Truth versus error

To-day, as oft, away from sin
Christ summons thee!
Truth pleads to-night: Just take Me in!
No mass for Me!

God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from sin, disease, and death.

Cardinal point 3 - Column 4 - Extended

Question 14. - What is man?
ADAM = That which is not the image and likeness of good, but a
material belief, opposed to the one Mind, or Spirit.

(Mortals are not immortals)
Mortals are not fallen children of God. They never had a
perfect state of being, which may subsequently be regained. They
were, from the beginning of mortal history, "conceived in sin and
brought forth in iniquity." Mortality is finally swallowed up in
immortality. Sin, sickness, and death must disappear to give
place to the facts which belong to immortal man.
(Imperishable identity)
Learn this, O mortal, and earnestly seek the spiritual status of
man, which is outside of all material selfhood.
