Proverbs 23:5
5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon
that which is not? for riches
certainly make themselves wings; they
fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

Matthew 6:19-21
19 #Lay not up for yourselves
treasures upon earth, where moth and
rust doth corrupt, and where thieves
break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where
thieves do not break through nor
21 For where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also.

Hebrews 10:34,38
34 For ye had compassion of me in
my bonds, and took joyfully the
spoiling of your goods, knowing in
yourselves that ye have in heaven a
better and an enduring substance.
38 Now the just shall live by
faith: but if any man draw back, my
soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Hebrews 11:1,3
1 Now faith is the substance of
things hoped for, the evidence of
things not seen.
3 Through faith we understand that
the worlds were framed by the word of
God, so that things which are seen
were not made of things which do

311:26-7 Chapter 10: Science of Being

Chapter 10: Science of Being
Divine Science understood and acknowledged.

I thank Thee O Father,...

Thus olden faith's pale star now blends
In seven-hued white!
Life, without birth and without end,
Emitting light!

Give us grace for to-day;
feed the famished affections.

Cardinal point 3 - Column 3 - Extended

(Soul impeccable)
The objects cognized by the physical senses have not the reality
of substance. They are only what mortal belief calls them.
Matter, sin, and mortality lose all supposed consciousness or
claim to life or existence, as mortals lay off a false sense of
life, substance, and intelligence. But the spiritual, eternal man
is not touched by these phases of mortality.
How true it is that whatever is learned through material sense
must be lost because such so-called knowledge is reversed by the
spiritual facts of being in Science. That which material sense
calls intangible, is found to be substance. What to material sense
seems substance, becomes nothingness, as the sense-dream vanishes
and reality appears.

278:12-16,28 Chapter 10: Science of Being

(One cause supreme)
That matter is substantial or has life and sensation, is one of
the false beliefs of mortals, and exists only in a supposititious
mortal consciousness. Hence, as we approach Spirit and Truth, we
lose the consciousness of matter.
(Substance is Spirit)
All that we term sin, sickness, and death is a mortal belief.
We define matter as error, because it is the opposite of life,
substance, and intelligence. Matter, with its mortality, cannot
be substantial if Spirit is substantial and eternal. Which ought
to be substance to us, - the erring, changing, and dying, the
mutable and mortal, or the unerring, immutable, and immortal? A
New Testament writer plainly describes faith, a quality of mind,
as "the substance of things hoped for."

479:29 Chapter 14: Recapitulation

Chapter 14: Recapitulation
Divine Science encompassing the universe and man;...

Truth versus error

To-day, as oft, away from sin
Christ summons thee!
Truth pleads to-night: Just take Me in!
No mass for Me!

God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from sin, disease, and death.

Cardinal point 3 - Column 4 - Extended

Question 16. - Does brain think, and do nerves feel, and is
there intelligence in matter?

ADAM = A product of nothing as the mimicry of something.

(Spiritual reflection)
Paul says: "For the invisible things of Him, from the creation of
the world, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that
are made." (Romans i. 20.) When the substance of Spirit appears
in Christian Science, the nothingness of matter is recognized.
Where the spirit of God is, and there is no place where God is not,
evil becomes nothing, - the opposite of the something of Spirit.
If there is no spiritual reflection, then there remains only the
darkness of vacuity and not a trace of heavenly tints.

480:26-2 Chapter 14: Recapitulation

(Vapor and nothingness)
The Bible declares: "All things were made by Him [the divine
Word]; and without Him was not anything made that was made." This
is the eternal verity of divine Science. If sin, sickness, and
death were understood as nothingness, they would disappear. As
vapor melts before the sun, so evil would vanish before the
reality of good. One must hide the other. How important, then,
to choose good as the reality!
