SUBSTANCE.

- Section 2 -

Genesis 26:1-6,12
1 And there was a famine in the
land, beside the first famine that
was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac
went unto Abimelech king of the
Philistines unto Gerar.
2 And the Lord appeared unto him,
and said, Go not down into Egypt;
dwell in the land which I shall tell
thee of:
3 Sojourn in this land, and I will
be with thee, and will bless thee; for
unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will
give all these countries, and I will
perform the oath which I sware unto
Abraham thy father;
4 And I will make thy seed to
multiply as the stars of heaven, and
will give unto thy seed all these
countries; and in thy seed shall all
the nations of the earth be blessed;
5 Because that Abraham obeyed my
voice, and kept my charge, my
commandments, my statutes, and my
laws.
6 #And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:
12 Then Isaac sowed in that land,
and received in the same year an
hundredfold: and the Lord blessed
him.

***
Proverbs 3:5,6,9,10
5 #Trust in the Lord with all thine
heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths.
9 Honour the Lord with thy
substance, and with the firstfruits
of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled
with plenty, and thy presses shall
burst out with new wine.

***
Hebrews 10:34
34 For ye had compassion of me in
my bonds, and took joyfully the
spoiling of your goods, knowing in
yourselves that ye have in heaven a
better and an enduring substance.

Thus olden faith's pale star now blends
In seven-hued white!
Life, without birth and without end,
Emitting light!

Give us grace for to-day;
feed the famished affections.

(-1- The deific supremacy)
I. God is infinite, the only Life, substance, Spirit, or Soul,
the only intelligence of the universe, including man. Eye hath
neither seen God nor His image and likeness. Neither God nor the
perfect man can be discerned by the material senses. The
individuality of Spirit, or the infinite, is unknown, and thus a
knowledge of it is left either to human conjecture or to the
revelation of divine Science.

301:6-29 Chapter 10: Science of Being

(The divine reflection)
To himself, mortal and material man seems to be substance, but
his sense of substance involves error and therefore is material,
temporal.
On the other hand, the immortal, spiritual man is really
substantial, and reflects the eternal substance, or Spirit, which
mortals hope for. He reflects the divine, which constitutes the
only real and eternal entity. This reflection seems to mortal
sense transcendental, because the spiritual man's substantiality
transcends mortal vision and is revealed only through divine
Science.
(Inverted images and ideas)
As God is substance and man is the divine image and likeness,
man should wish for, and in reality has, only the substance of
good, the substance of Spirit, not matter. The belief that man
has any other substance, or mind, is not spiritual and breaks the
First Commandment, Thou shalt have one God, one Mind. Mortal man
seems to himself to be material substance, while man is "image"
(idea). Delusion, sin, disease, and death arise from the false
testimony of material sense, which, from a supposed standpoint
outside the focal distance of infinite Spirit, presents an
inverted image of Mind and substance with everything turned upside
down.

To-day, as oft, away from sin
Christ summons thee!
Truth pleads to-night: Just take Me in!
No mass for Me!

God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from sin, disease, and death.

Question 7. - What is substance?
ADAM = A belief in intelligent matter, finiteness, and mortality.

(Spiritual synonyms)
Question. - What is substance?
Answer. - Substance is that which is eternal and incapable of
discord and decay. Truth, Life, and Love are substance, as the
Scriptures use this word in Hebrews: "The substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Spirit, the synonym
of Mind, Soul, or God, is the only real substance. The spiritual
universe, including individual man, is a compound idea, reflecting
the divine substance of Spirit.
